PCI DSS Compliance Certification
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of security rules made by Visa, MasterCard, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, and American Express in 2004. The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) is in charge of the compliance scheme. Its goal is to protect credit and debit card transactions from fraud and data theft. Even though the PCI SSC does not have the legal power to force compliance, any business that accepts credit or debit cards must do so.
